Good day and my Oh my what a crazy time we’re living in with the wars and all the fraud and all the protests and all the rest. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Our devotion today is called “A wise and foolish son ” Proverbs Chapter 10 verse one says, A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother. This goes for daughters also that a father will be glad when a son or a daughter uses wisdom. Solomon started off great and there’s no doubt that he put a smile on his dad, King David’s face. But at the end, he disobeyed the counsel of his mother in Proverbs 31.
Solomon’s mother was Bathsheba and she ended up a wonderful woman that gave great counsel to her son. Some believe that it was after the death of Bathsheba that Solomon backslid. But we see in Ecclesiasties chapter two that Solomon strayed from that teaching. What can we learn from Solomon’s Life? It’s not how you start the race, it is how you finish the race. 1st Corinthians Chapter 9 verses 24 through 27. With all the temptations and trials along the way there are things that are going to cause us to want to stray.
For Solomon it was like anyone else, it was having a good time drinking and being with a lot of women. But we see at the end of the book of Ecclesiastes that Solomon returned to his Heavenly Father. Like the prodigal son in Luke chapter 15 it is never too late to return to your Heavenly Father and get your life back. Our God is so forgiving, And merciful and loving and is always ready to receive us into His kingdom. Have a blessed weekend and always remember that Jesus loves you!
