Chatterbox Sin

Good morning or afternoon to you all and I would like to invite you to our live feed tonight at 8:00 PM Texas time 6:00 California time. We will finish chapter four of the Book of Acts. Our devotion on this Wednesday is called,” Chatterbox sin ” Proverbs chapter 10 verse 19 it says, In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise. When I read scriptures like this it makes me not want to say much but I believe what this scripture is saying is that idle talk can lead to sin. We can get together and fellowship and talk about the Bible and Scripture and great things about God all day and this would not apply at all.

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 12 and verse 36, but I say to you that for every idle word man may speak, they will give account of it on the Day of Judgment. I don’t know about you but that makes me think about what I say and I still probably say a lot of things that might be considered idle talk. I think if we were to boil it down it would end up being talk that is considered gossip or negative speaking. And in Proverbs chapter 6 verses 16 through 18 There are three things mentioned out of the 6 that deal with speaking. Verse 17 a lying tongue, verse 19, A false witness who speaks lies and verse 19 again, One who sows discord among the brethren. Those are things that we will answer for and I’m sure there’s many more but I guess we should take this to heart and be careful what we say.

There is nothing wrong with being a chatterbox but be careful that it doesn’t lead to sin! I have always told people there is nothing wrong with talking behind someone’s back as long as it’s good. Have a blessed wonderful day and always remember that Jesus loves you!
