Good day to you all from the great state of Texas. Our Devotion this Morning is called, ” You’ve gotta friend ” Proverbs chapter 17 and verse 17 says, A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. What is a friend? Someone who will stand by you when you are going through your hardest times. Someone who will listen to you when you’re venting. Someone who won’t walk away when the times get tough. But also someone who is faithful to tell you the truth if you are out of line and not allow you to do things that are harmful to yourself. This verse says a friend loves at all times and that means through everything, the good the bad and the ugly But it also says and a brother is born for adversity. A friend is like a brother or to the ladies a sister, someone who is just like family. Born for adversity? This says that they will go through the valley with you, they won’t run when adversity comes.
I think of the song, What a friend we have in Jesus. Jesus fits this verse completely. Hebrews Chapter 13 verse five says, He will never leave nor forsake us. God loves us, John 3:16 And Jesus was born to take away the sin of the world, Jesus was born for adversity, to go to the cross and to suffer for us, Why? Because he loves us and He is the best friend a person could ever have. So if you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand and nothing is going right. Turn your eyes upon Jesus and the things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace! Who doesn’t need a friend? We all do! A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. You’ve got a friend in Jesus! Have a blessed day and always remember that Jesus loves you!
